The themes, or templates, available from this site are designed predominantly using the excellent Artisteer template generator software. The themes are tailored to specific needs and then written to the various formats available within Artisteer. Slight modifications are made for fine-tuning purposes and the resulting ZIP packages are uploaded here and made available from within the theme switcher plug-ins within the various CMS installations on this site.

At the moment, as Artisteer handles a somewhat limited set of output formats, only those format themes are provided here. While these include the three big CMS’s, Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal, in providing the HTML/CSS versions of these themes, it should be relatively easy to port the themes to different CMS’s, which is definitely encouraged here.

Features

Features of our themes will vary only very slightly from one to the next, though they all share the following set of features:

  • No link-back requirements. That’s right, you can remove the link-backs included in the initial themes. Please see our Terms of Use for more information.
  • No plugin requirements. Our themes don’t come included with any plugins needing to be installed for theme to work nor do they require any such plugins. They should all work just fine given a standard installation of the given CMS.
  • Valid XHTML/CSS.
  • Cross-browser support. We try to ensure our themes look exactly as they should across all browsers and thus far, they do across all the major browsers. There are minor qualms with viewing the themes on Internet Explorer 6 but it’s simply advised for all people to upgrade to a better browser such as Firefox to avoid such issues.

Our Wordpress themes are all widget-ready, though since some of our themes only contain a single column, widgets would not be able to be added to those particular themes.

We’ve also attempted to, where possible, include as many images comprising the theme as simple and plain as possible so that users can add to them as it suits their purpose. We’re even trying to keep included with the theme packages, PNG files that may be completely transparent, so that users can alter those graphics without having to create a new HTML area. More than that, we’re composing a variety of tutorials for our forums here, many of which will deal with theme alterations, so that users will find it easy to make adjustments or even expand on the themes offered here.
